Lagos, Nigeria (PANA) - Explosions occurred near two churches in Nigeria's beleaguered northern city of Jos on Sunday, but casualty figures are not yet known, residents told PANA.
They said the blasts occurred near St. Finbar's Catholic Church and Church of Christ in Nigeria (COCIN), both located in the high-brow Rayfield Areas of the city.
A spokesman for the Nigerian National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr. Yushau Shuaib, has confirmed the incident.
He said officials of NEMA were on the ground for assessment of the damage and vacuation of victims.
“NEMA officials have arrived at the scene of suspected suicide explosion. They are about to evacuate victims to hospital,” he said.
Last month, two suicide bombers attacked the COCIN headquarters in the city, killing at least six persons and injuring over 50, according to the police in Plateau, of which Jos is capital.
