Experts' meeting opens in Cotonou

Cotonou- Benin (PANA) -- Experts from Francophonie member countries Wednesday in Cotonou began preparations for the organisation's third conference of Culture ministers expected to discuss cultural diversity 14-15 June in the Benin capital.
Opening the experts' meeting, Benin's Culture minister Amos Elegbe observed that culture was a vital element to peace and development.
"This meeting should meet the dual challenge of ensuring the enhancement and cohesion of the Francophonie, with a view to promoting cultural diversity among member states as well as the definition of a common stance on international trading in cultural goods and services," he said.
Over 300 delegates are expected to attend the Cotonou conference.
