Ethiopia: AU Commission chief greets Muslims on Eid Al-Fitr

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (PANA) - African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson  Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma on Wednesday extended warm wishes to Muslims in Africa and around the world as they celebrated Eid Al-Fitr following one month of Ramadan.

“I wish all Muslim brothers and sisters a blessed day filled with peace, love, happiness and prosperity,” Dr. Dlamini Zuma said in a statement, wishing them all, “Eid-Mubarak!”

"As Muslims mark the end of the month, they should be reminded that Ramadan provides an opportunity for them to continue in their efforts and commitment to helping the less fortunate through charity, particularly those struggling as a result of war, famine and economic hardship," the Chairperson stated.

"Given that Eid Al-fitr is the beginning of renewed faith and continuation for all Muslims," Dr Dlamini Zuma encouraged the Muslim brothers and sisters "to continue with our shared responsibility of supporting each other in efforts toward creating a peaceful, prosperous and just Africa and world."
