Envoy regrets death of Cameroonian student in Russia

Yaounde- Cameroon (PANA) -- Russian ambassador to Cameroon, Abdoulayev Poulate, has expressed his country's regret over the death on 24 December in Saint-Petersburg of Cameroonian student, Leon Kanhem.
Kanhem, a student at Saint-Petersburg University, was stabbed to death by unknown assailants.
Members of his family, other relatives and friends staged a demonstration Tuesday in front of the Russian embassy in Yaounde.
Addressing journalists in Yaounde Wednesday after a meeting with Cameroonian Foreign Minister Laurent Esso, the Russian envoy condemned the killing as "a racist crime.
" He said an enquiry had been opened into the murder and promised that the culprits if found would be punished according to the law.
Poulate also urged the parents of the student to contact the Russian embassy for the repatriation of the body to Cameroon for burial.
