Egypt: Arab League calls for national dialogue

Cairo, Egypt (PANA) - The Arab League has called for a national dialogue in Libya, following the meeting of its national representatives in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, Friday.

According to a statement issued after the meeting, participants expressed their support for the efforts made by Secretary General of the Arab League Nabil Arabi and his representative in Libya, Nasser Kodou, to help the country with national dialogue, reconciliation and consensus.

The permanent representative of Libya at the Arab League, Mr. Achour Bourachid, hailed the initiative charging Kodou, a former Palestinian Foreign Affairs Minister, with supporting the government in rebuilding its institutions and establishing national dialogue and reconciliation.

Since the 2011 uprising that toppled the Mouammar Khadafi regime, Libya has been in turmoil due to widespread insecurity and political instability.
