Ebola death toll rises to 90 in northern Congo

Brazzaville- Congo (PANA) -- The death toll in the Ebola epidemic in northern Congo has risen to 90, Health minister Alain Moka indicated Thursday, adding that a total of 110 cases had so far been diagnosed in two districts in the region.
Speaking at a meeting called to define research and prevention programmes against the disease, Moka said the district of Kelle was the most hit by the epidemic with 80 deaths, while followed by Mbomo with 10 deaths since the disease broke out last 4 January.
The epidemic has also decimated hundreds of gorillas in the sanctuary of Lossi located between the two districts and the national park of Odzala, according to sources at the ministry of Environment.
