Lagos, Nigeria (PANA) - The 68th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers is billed to hold in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, 11-12 June, an ECOWAS Commission statement made available to PANA said Sunday.
It said the session would, among others, consider the 2012 Interim Report of ECOWAS Commission President Kadre Desire Ouedraogo, who assumed office at the commission on 1 March 2012, along with his new management team.
Other members of management team – Vice-President Toga Gayewea McIntosh and six Commissioners, who assumed duty in February, will be formally sworn in at the council session.
Council will also consider a Memorandum on the Allocation of Statutory Positions to Member States and consider three ministerial reports, including the 11th Meeting of Ministers in charge Telecommunications/ICT held in Yamoussoukro in October 2011 and the 2nd Conference of ECOWAS Science and Technology Ministers also held in Yamoussoukro last March.
The meeting will also consider the report of the Ministerial Meeting on the ECOWAS Humanitarian Affairs Policy and Plan of Action held in Cotonou in March 2012.
The Council session will feed into the 41st Ordinary Summit of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government, which is expected to take place at the end of June in Yamoussoukro.
