ECOWAS Sports Centre director bags Ivorian national award over cycling tour

Abuja, Nigeria (PANA) - Impressed by the organization of the recently-ended ECOWAS cycling tour, the Ivorian government has honoured the Director of the ECOWAS Youth and Sports Development Centre, Mr. Francis Chuks Njoaguani, with the "Knight of the Order of Sports".

The honour was conferred on Mr. Njoaguani by the Ivorian Minister of Sports and Entertainment, Philippe Dakpa Legre.

According to an ECOWAS statement, issued here, the award was for Mr. Njoaguani's contributions toward organizing the second ECOWAS International Cycling Tour that terminated in Abidjan, the Ivorian capital, with Burkina Faso emerging overall Individual and Team winners.

A citation, read by the minister, praised Mr. Njoaguani for his contributions to the development of sports and integration through sports in the West African sub-region.

It commended his efforts in the successful organization of the Tour, particularly at a time when the Ivorian President Alassane Dramane Ouatara, is the Chairman of the regional body.

The award, published in the Official Gazette of Côte d’Ivoire, comes with a certificate and a silver medal.
