ECOWAS New Executive Secretary Assumes Office Wednesday

Lagos- Nigeria (PANA) -- Newly-elected Executive Secretary of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Mohammed Ibn Chambas of Ghana, will assume office Wednesday, ECOWAS sources said Sunday.
Chambas, who was elected at the last Summit of the 15-member sub-regional body in Dakar, Senegal, will take over from Guinean Lansana Kouyate in a ceremony at the ECOWAS Secretariat in Abuja.
On arrival in Nigeria Friday, the Ghanaian held a lengthy meeting with Kouyate and other top ECOWAS officials at the Secretariat.
