ECOWAS Mediator for Guinea expected in Conakry on Sunday

Cotonou Benin (PANA) - The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Mediator for Guinea, former Beninese President Boni Yayi, will arrive in Conakry next Sunday, as part of the management of the crisis in the country.

A statement from the sub-regional group said the itinerary of the ECOWAS mediator includes an inclusive dialogue with members of the government, political actors, and civil society organisations.

ECOWAS heads of state, who met in Ghana on 3 July, gave the mediator and the Guinea junta the end of July to agree a timetable for a return to constitutional rule after rejecting the junta's 36-month transition period.
