Death toll from Yellow fever outbreak in Darfur rises to 107

Khartoum, Sudan (PANA) - The death toll from the Yellow fever outbreak in Sudan's western Darfur region has gone up to 107 from the 358 cases reported, khartoum local media reported, quoting the Health Under-Secretary, Dr. Isam Mohamed Abdulla.

According to the reports, Abdulla said Wednesday that the Central Darfur State was the most affected with 70 fatalities from 249 cases.

Abdulla was quoted as saying that as part of the preventative measures, aerial spraying is being carried out in addition to the delivery, by air, of drugs and other necessities to the five Darfur states.

Abdulla added that 2.4 million doses of the yellow fever vaccine, costing US$ 7 million, would be delivered early next week, saying that by the end of the week an extensive vaccination campaign would be launched throughout the region.
