DR Congo has 3.24% HIV/AIDS prevalence rate

Kinshasa, DR Congo (PANA) - The average prevalence rate of HIV/AIDS in the Democratic Republic of Congo is 3.24 percent, with peaks at the border, mainly in the South-east, Central and South-west of the country, according to Minister of Public Health, Victor Makwenge.

"The DRC is surrounded by countries with high enough prevalence rates, it was therefore important to know our average prevalence rate," the minister said, after the regular session of the National Multi-sectoral Council against AIDS (CNMLS), Tuesday in Kinshasa.
The session, attended by President Joseph Kabila, was held to take stock of the country's efforts in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

It was also an opportunity for rethinking the National multi-sectoral programme against HIV/AIDS (PNMLS), established in 2004 by presidential order.
