Cyclone 'Gerry' leaves one dead in Mauritius

Saint Denis- Reunion (PANA) -- One person was killed Thursday afternoon when Hurricane Gerry swept past the coast of Mauritius at a speed of 25km/hour, according to official sources.
The man was reportedly killed while trying to repair a television antenna.
In a mid-day bulletin, the Specialised Regional Meteorological Centre (CMRS) said 'Gerry' had "swept past the coasts of Reunion and was now moving away.
" CMRS said although the alert in Reunion remained in force, there were no more threats on the island.
Meanwhile, as a result of the precarious weather conditions in Mauritius, Plaisance international airport has been closed until further notice.
