Cultural Events set For OAU Summit

OUAGADOUGOU- Burkina Faso (PANA) -- Burkina Faso has lined up 60 artistic groups that will entertain leaders at the 34th Organisation of African Unity (OAU) summit to be held here from 8-10 June .
"We will present high quality cultural events to the heads of state, guests and populations," said Desire Ouedraogo, the chairman of the entertainment committee in an interview with PANA.
Besides performing artists, visual artists will hold an exhibition at the Ouagadougou International Craft Show (SIAO), he added.
On 5 June, a cinema gala evening would be held where Gaston Kabore's "Buud Yam", winner of the "Etalon De Yennenga" prize at the last FESPACO, will be screened.
Among the stars invited for the eventt will be Georges Ouedraogo of Burkina, a former member of the African group "Bozambo" and Cote d'Ivoire's Aicha Kone.
The two recently released a compact disc devoted to the 34th OAU summit.
Meanwhile, a mega-show is to be held 6 June at Ouagadougou's municipal stadium with star musicians such as Koffi Olomide (DRC), Ami Koita (Mali), Youssou Ndour (Senegal), Aicha Kone (Cote d'Ivoire) and Georges Ouedraogo (Burkina).
On 8 June , the Burkina Ballet Company will perform in honour of the heads of state on the summit's opening day.
