Côte d’Ivoire: IPPF holds forum on sexual violence

Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire (PANA) – The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) will on Wednesday hold a forum in London to discuss solutions to sexual violence and gender equality, on the sidelines of the world summit that began on Tuesday on sexual violence in countries in conflicts.

A statement issued by IPPF said the forum, co-organized by the Swedish government, would look at ways to deal with sexual violence in the post-2015 development agenda, particularly in relation to violence against women as the main objective for gender equality.

The participants will be the UNFPA executive director, Babatunde Osotimehin, the IPPF chairperson, Naomi Seboni and a specialist in gender equality at the Swedish International and Development Cooperation Agency, Sofia Dohmen.

Other speakers would be a survivor of sexual violence from Venezuela and a young Colombian IPPF leader, who carried out research on the situation of women in armed conflicts.
