Côte d'Ivoire: US supports new family planning project in Côte d’Ivoire

Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire (PANA) – A five-year family planning project was launched Thursday in Abidjan with financial support from the US Government to support access to services provided under Côte d’Ivoire's national family planning programme.

The 2015-2020 project, known as 'Act for family planning (AgirPF)' ,will provide advice on family planning and a wide range of contraceptive methods, promote safer family planning behaviours and improve public sensitization on the advantages of family planning.

Speaking at the project launch, the US Ambassador in Côte d’Ivoire, Terence McCulley said that it will back efforts made by the government, partners and local community organizations to improve access and use of quality family planning services.

Similar projects have been established in Togo, Burkina Faso and Niger  and will soon be extended to Mauritania.

AgirPF gets financing to the tune of US$ 6 million allocated by the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
