Côte d’Ivoire: Religious organizations call for prayers for Ebola-hit countries

Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire (PANA) – The Association of Sunni Muslims in Côte d’Ivoire (AMSCI) and the Council of Sunni Imams (CODIS) have called their members to pray for countries affected by the Ebola disease.

In a statement issued Monday, the two religious organizations hailed the Ivorian authorities for their efforts in preventing the outbreak or spread of the disease in the country.

They also called all Imams and other religious leaders to participate in the sensitization of their faithfuls and introduce preventive measures recommended to face the health crisis.

According to data released by the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 900 persons have died of the disease which had been declared a world emergency public health concern.

The Ebola hit countries are Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and to a lesser degree, Nigeria.
