Cote d'Ivoire: Network on environment launched

Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (PANA) - A network of ministers and women leaders on the environment has been launched in Cairo, Egypt, according to the communique of the African Ministers' Conference on the Environment (AMCEN).

The network is aimed at increasing the representation and engagement of women in decision-making in matters related to the environment.

The network is expected to work for the implementation of AMCEN's policy that takes into consideration the issue of gender and the environment.

It will also propose recommendations on practical solutions to the problems of the environment at regional and national levels, establish partnerships with inter-governmental and non- governmental organisations and the civil society and share good practices.

It will be co-chaired by Armande Zanou, Director of Environment Policy at the Environment Ministry in Benin, and Hadjatou Jallow, Executive Director of the Agency for the Protection of the Environment in Sierra-Leone.
