Cote d'Ivoire: ECOWAS leaders meet in Yamoussoukro

Yamoussoukro, Cote d'Ivoire (PANA) - The 44th ordinary session of the ECOWAS heads of state and government opened here Friday with the Chairman, Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara, presiding.

Top on the agenda of the two-day summit is the election of a new Chairman to succeed President Ouattara, who would have served two terms at the end of this summit

PANA reports that the contest for the rotational chairmanship is between Ghana and Liberia.

On Saturday, President Ouattara will hand over to the new Chairman as part of the closing ceremonies
