Cote d’Ivoire: Cote d'Ivoire features in UNAIDS campaign against HIV/AIDS at FIFA World Cup

Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (PANA) - Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara has indicated his country's willingness to be involved in UNAIDS sensitisation campaign, ''Protect the Goal'', that will be launched at next month's FIFA World Cup in Brazil, PANA reported.

President Ouattara signed the ball ''Protect the Goal'' at a meeting with a delegation from UNAIDS here Thursday.

For the UNAIDS delegation, led by Djibril Diallo, Principal Adviser to the Executive Director, the involvement of Cote d'Ivoire is an important step forward because of the high visibility of Cote d’Ivoire's national football team in African and world football.

The delegation has also visited Cameroon and Nigeria.

The campaign, which is to reach zero new HIV infection, zero discrimination and zero-death linked to AIDS, will be launched 9 June in Bahia, Brazil, three days before the kickoff of the global tournament.
