Côte d’Ivoire: AfDB President names five regional heads

Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire (PANA) - The President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina, has announced major structural changes with the appointment of five regional Directors-General and country managers handling the bank's biggest lending portfolios.

“I am pleased to announce the appointments of five Directors-General,” Adesina said in a statement announcing the appointment of the Bank’s key regional officers Friday. “With the completion of the appointments of the Directors-General and the Country Managers to support them, as well as the Director of the Nigeria Country Office – all following the recruitment of all Vice-Presidents – the Bank is now fully set to roll out its New Development and Business Delivery Model.”

The AfDB President named Janvier Litse as Director-General, West Africa Regional Development and Business Delivery Office; Ousmane Dore will become the Director-General, Central Africa Regional Development and Business Delivery Office and Gabriel Negatu was named the Director-General, East Africa Regional Development and Business Delivery Office.

Negatu was previously the Director of the Bank’s Regional Resource Centre based in Nairobi.

Adesina also named Mohamed El Azizi the Bank’s Director-General in charge of North Africa Regional Development and Business Delivery Office.

Dr Tonia Kandiero will become the Director-General, Southern Africa Regional Development and Business Delivery Office while Ebrima Faal was named the Director of the Bank’s Nigeria Country Office.

The Bank President said the appointment of the five senior executives would enable the Bank to achieve the “High 5s” to accelerate the achievement of its Ten-Year Strategy.
