Côte d'Ivoire: AFC grants Guinea 30 million euros for road infrastructure

Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire (PANA) - Multilateral financial institution Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) has given Guinea a loan of 30 million Euros to renovate the 194-kilometre road linking Kissidougou and Kankan, the corporation said.

Built in the 1970s within the framework of the Guinean-Cuban cooperation, the Kissidougou-Kankan main road is now in a state of disrepair.

The renovation of the road is considered a priority for the Guinean government, not only because it links the two biggest regions of the country but also because it connects the coastal motorway that links Conakry to Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) and Dakar (Senegal).

''Presently, several stretches of the main road have so deteriorated that they are hardly accessible, thus creating transportation problems for the local population and affecting their economic activities,'' AFC Managing Director Andrew Alli was quoted as saying in a statement announcing the loan.
