Corpse of Rwandan policeman on peace-keeping in Darfur flown home

Kigali, Rwanda (PANA) - The corpse of Corporal Gafishi Havugimana, a Rwandan officer who died during the week in the north-west Sudanese region of Darfur, was Saturday flown to Kigali, Radio Rwanda reported from here.

"Corporal Gafishi died in circumstances not yet clear when he was doing his morning jogging," disclosed a source.

Difficult climate conditions, including heat, have often been cited as one of the causes that sometimes complicate the task of the peacekeeping officers in Darfur.

Rwanda has a contingent of about 3,500 men and women, including military and police, who are part of the hybrid UN/African Union force deployed in this region of north-western Sudan as part of a peacekeeping mission.
