Congo: President Sassou Nguesso praises efforts made by CAR partners

Brazzaville, Congo (PANA) – Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso on Wednesday hailed the efforts made by international partners to support Central African Republic in its political transition.

"I hail the efforts made by all partners who accompanied Central African Republic, with patience and determination, sometimes huge sacrifices, in implementing the transitional order," said the Congolese leader and mediator in the CAR crisis.

Addressing the diplomatic corps accredited to Congo Republic in Brazzaville at a New Year reception, President Sassou Nguesso said, "The strongest wish we can express for the CAR people is that the boat does not sink at the port where it arrived after storms that nearly took it away."

He also congratulated the authorities in CAR stating: "We sincerely congratulate the interim authorities who spared no effort to reached the set goals, in accord with the highest interests of their fellow citizens."

On the country's 30 December 2015 presidential and legislative elections, he remarked that the people of CAR have through the polls expressed in a very responsible manner their determination to restore the rule of law, synonymous with national regeneration.

In addition, President Sassou Nguesso said he was pleased about democracy in Africa, marked by the successful presidential elections in 2015 in Nigeria, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Tanzania, Zambia and recently in Burkina Faso.
