Congo: Congo to investigate 'misconduct' allegations against peacekeepers in CAR

Brazzaville, Congo (PANA) – The Congolese government has sent to the Central African Republic (CAR) an investigator to gather evidence on allegations or misconduct against its contingent of the Multidimensional Integrated Mission for CAR Stabilization, Congolese national radio reported on Thursday quoting a communiqué issued by the Defence ministry.

According to the communiqué, the investigator would examine allegations of "serious misconduct" against unidentified soldiers in the Congolese contingent who on 10 June, at the request of local authorities, arrested and detained four CAR citizens for their alleged involvement in criminal activities. Two of them died during their transfer and the two others were hospitalized.

The ministry of Defence pledged its commitment unearth the facts.
