Congo: Authorities organize census of CAR voters resident in Congo

Brazzaville, Congo (PANA) - A census of citizens of the Central African Republic (CAR), resident in Congo, is being organized to determine those eligible to vote in their country's general elections planned for this year.

PANA reports that the census is being conducted among the 3,000 CAR citizens in Congo at the CAR embassy here, saying that since the 8-15 September event began, the turnout has been low because of lack of information and awareness.

The exercise is being jointly handled by the CAR, the Congolese authorities and the United Nations High Commissioner for refugees.

Under CAR's electoral programme, a constitutional referendum is planned for 4 October while the first round of the presidential and legislative polls will take place on 18 October.
