Comoros calls for liberation of Mayotte

Durban- South-Africa (PANA) -- At the World Conference against Racism underway in Durban, South Africa, the government of Comoros has appealed to the international community to help liberate the island of Mayotte from colonial administration.
"Our country, cut from Mayotte since independence, is like an ox standing on three legs for 25 years," Foreign minister Souef Mohamed El-Amine said.
He called for colonial powers still present on lands not theirs, to de-colonise such regions.
The minister reminded delegates that right into the 21st Century, Mayotte Island was still under French colonial administration, adding that this can only encourage secessionist attempts in the island of Anjouan.
