China gives Mauritius equipment worth 15.5 million rupees

Port Louis- Mauritius (PANA) -- China's ambassador in Mauritius, Xia Shouan on Wednesday handed over agricultural and health equipment worth 15.
5 million rupees to Mauritian Economic and Corporate Affairs minister, Sushil Kushiram, in Port Louis.
The offer, funded under the fifth Sino-Mauritian Joint Commission, which was signed in Mauritius in October 1999, comprises 26 tractors for agricultural purposes, an x-ray equipment, dental chairs and assorted medical tools.
Meanwhile, the Chinese envoy announced that both sides would on 21 May sign an agreement for the Mauritian government to purchase a ship in Shanghai.
He also said Chinese investors intending to set up a spinning factory in the Freeport are due in Mauritius soon.
"For the first time, last year, the trade balance between Mauritius and China exceeded 100 million US dollars," Xia said.
