Chadian movement wants Darfur crisis probed

Cotonou- Benin (PANA) -- A Chadian resistance movement, the Freedom and Renewal Front (FLR) has called for an international and independent inquiry into the crisis in the western Sudanese region of Darfur bordering Chad.
In a statement Tuesday, the FLR urged African Union Commission chairperson Alpha Omar Konare and UN secretary general Kofi Annan to set up an investigating panel on Darfur.
The movement accused Chadian President Idriss Deby of fanning the drive for secession to create a State of the Zagawas (Zagawaland) - community on both sides of the border between Chad and Sudan.
It called for the immediate withdrawal of some 3,000 Chadian troops which it alleged was fighting alongside Darfur rebels.
