Central Libyan city of Sirte chosen to host inclusive Conference for National Reconciliation on 28 April.

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The third ordinary meeting of the Preparatory Committee for the inclusive Conference for National Reconciliation agreed at the end of its two-day proceedings in Sebha (800 km south of Tripoli) to choose the city of Sirte to host the inclusive Conference for National Reconciliation on 28 April.

The meeting, held on Thursday in Sebha, was chaired by the deputy chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, Abdallah Al-Lafi, who is in charge of reconciliation at the Presidential Council.

At the meeting were the Congolese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Francophonie, Jean-Claude Gakosso, the African Union's adviser on national reconciliation, Mohamed Hassan Labbat, and members of the preparatory committee representing all the main parties involved in the political process.

The participants decided to determine the mechanism for forming the preparatory committee to organize the conference, and to set its terms of reference and internal rules, said a statement from the Presidential Council.

The participants also decided to hold the next meeting of the Preparatory Committee in the town of Zouara (120 km west of Tripoli) at the end of this month.

The closing meeting examined the minutes of the previous consultative meetings.

On Wednesday evening, the hall of the Language Centre at Sebha University hosted the third ordinary meeting of the Preparatory Committee for National Reconciliation, chaired by the deputy chairman of the Presidential Council, Abdallah Al-Lafi.

During the evening session, the strategic vision of the national reconciliation project was examined and the results of the preparatory forum for reconciliation were also presented.

They also discussed the formation of the preparatory committee for the inclusive national conference and reaffirmed the participation of all parties involved in the political process.

The African Union (AU) supports the national reconciliation project in Libya, and plays a role in creating the conditions for its success, by providing technical support and advice, as well as contributing with the Libyans to the realization of this national project.
