Cape Verde gears up for Saturday's match with Kenya

Praia- Cape Verde (PANA) -- Cape Verde's national football team Monday started its final preparations for Saturday's game against Kenya as part of the qualifiers for the 2004 African Cup of Nations, to be hosted by Tunisia.
According to a source close to the Cape Verdean Football Association (FCF), national coach Oscar Duarte has called 18 players, nine of whom are foreign-based professionals playing in Portugal (6), France, Norway and Angola.
Saturday's second-round match against Kenya is regarded as a decisive encounter for the Cape Verdeans, who hope to qualify for the African Cup finals for the first time.
In the first round of the qualifiers played on 6 September, Cape Verde beat Mauritania 2-0 in Nouakchott.
Kenya, which is also taking the match seriously after its 3-0 defeat of Togo in Nairobi four weeks ago, would like to return to the CAN contest after a 10-year absence.
The Kenyans are expected to land on the West African islands Tuesday from Britain, where they have been undergoing training and playing friendlies against UK sides for the past two weeks.
