Calm returns to Libyan city of Koufra after armed clashes

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - There was an "uneasy" calm on Monday in the city of Koufra, south eastern part of Libya, after a truce was signed to halt the clashes that broke out over in the last couple of days, the Libyan Army Chief of Staff, Major-General Youssef Al-Manghouch, said.

Members of the Libyan Shield Unit, part of the national army, and fighters of the Toubou tribes reached a "cease fire" agreement late Sunday under the supervision of General Al-Manghouch, the Libyan News Agency (LANA) indicated.

The clashes left about 23 persons dead and dozens others injured in the clashed which lasted two days.
