Tripoli, Libya (PANA) – Calm has returned to south-west Libya where clashes between the Guentrar and Al-Machachiya tribes have left at least 105 people dead and 500 injured.
The Committee of Wisemen in Libya and the tribes of Guentrar and Al-Machachiya have concluded an agreement for a three-day truce from Wednesday.
Rescue committees on Thursday started the distribution of humanitarian aid to the inhabitants from the localities of Mizdah and Al-Chakika, the Libyan News Agency reported.
It said calm was prevailing in those two localities where no use of arms had been reported.
The rescue teams are distributing aid and giving assistance to displaced people in the region, consisting on food, drugs, blankets and tents. Some 200 families have been displaced.
The Libyan authorities have called for immediate ceasefire and declared the area a military zone.
