CS Sfaxien 1 - Widad 1 in Arab League soccer tie

Sfax- Tunisia (PANA) -- Tunisian team, CS Sfaxien, was held in check by the visit ing Moroccan team, Widad Athlétique de Casablanca (WAC), 1-1 in the first leg of the semi-finals of the Arab League championships played Sunday in Sfax, the capi t al of Southern Tunisia.
CS Sfaxien, which dominated the major part of the first half, scored its goal in the 45th minute through its Ivorian attacker Blaise Kouassi.
WAC, finalist in the last edition, equalized in the 74th minute through Rafik Ab dessamad.
In the other semi-final, Espérance of Tunis made a good showing Saturday by beat ing l'ES Sétif of Algéria, two times title holder, in its stronghold, with a sco r e-line of 1-0 scored by Oussama Darragi at the 76th minute.
The second legs of the semi-finals will take place in two weeks' time.
