Lagos, Nigeria (PANA) - President Issa Hayatou of African soccer's governing body, CAF, has expressed ''shock and sadness'' at the death of Somali FA president Nur Said Mohamud in a suicide bomb attack in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, Wednesday.
The blast also killed the President of the Somali National Olympic Committee, Aden Haji Yerberow.
In a statement posted on the CAF website, President Hayatou expressed his deepest sympathy and sent his condolences to the families of those killed in blast, as well as to the Olympic and Football family of Somalia and the entire people of Somalia.
“It is another black day for African football. It’s a tragedy, as Somali football lost a great leader with grassroots vision who was actively committed to football development despite very challenging conditions,'' the CAF President said.
