Burundi: Authorities bury 20 Burundian peacekeeping soldiers killed in Somalia

Bujumbura, Burundi (PANA) – The bodies of the 20 Burundian soldiers, killed in Somalia within the framework of the African Union peacekeeping mission (AMISOM), were interred on Friday at a cemetery in northwest of the capital, Bujumbura, Burundian national radio reported.

Burundi, which deployed five battalions of 850 men each to Somalia, has already paid a heavy loss of human lives, about 100 victims since 2007.

The African Union established a system meant to compensate the families of victims who die on official peacekeeping missions in Somalia.
