Burkina president receives envoys from Ghana, AU

Ouagadougou- Burkina Faso (PANA) -- President Blaise Compaore of Burkina Faso received Monday in Ouagadougou the Ghanaian foreign minister, Akufo-Addo Nana, who delivered a message from President John Kufuor, and the President of the Commission of the African Union (AU), Alpha Oumar Konaré.
The Ghanaian minister said later that he had come to seek Compaore's backing to the candidature of his compatriot vying for the post of President of the African Development Bank (ADB).
"Ghana would like to get the support of Burkinabe authorities for its candidate to emerge victorious during the elections next May," Addo Nana said, adding that he had an attentive ear from President Compaore.
Meanwhile, the President of the AU Commission said that he exchanged views with President Compaore on the forthcoming AU summit in Abuja, Nigeria from 30-31 January 2005.
"This summit will deal with conflicts, including those in Cote d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan," Konare said.
Konare commended President Compaore for his preparedness to work with the AU commission is the search for solutions to the continent's main peace and security problems and to help yje continental body's integration efforts.
