Burkina Faso junta leader reorganises army to better fight terrorism

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) - The Burkinabe transitional president, Paul Henri Sandaogo Damiba, on Thursday announced the creation of a new military regiment to be based in the west and the relocation of four battalions in order to fight against terrorism.

The newly created 26th commando infantry regiment (RIC) will be based in the garrison of Boromo, located in the Bale province in the west.

Four units have also been relocated throughout the country.

The 10th support regiment has been relocated to Bam (Centre-North), the train battalion to Ganzourgou (Plateau-Central), the army's strategic transmission battalion to Bazèga (Centre-South), and the military engineering battalion to Boulkiemdé province (Centre-West).

This reorganisation aims to make better networking of the territory to facilitate the intervention of defence and security forces, according to the Burkinabe army.
