Burkina Faso issues stamps for Francophonie summit

Ouagadougou- Burkina Faso (PANA) -- Burkina Faso has issued a stamp to commemorate the 10th Francophonie heads of state and governments summit scheduled 26-27 November.
Burkinabe president Blaise Compaore will present the stamp, exclusively destined for international shipping, with a face value of 425, 530 and 590 francs CFA, to his hosts, official sources said here Friday.
Deputy chairman of the 10th Francophonie Summit Organising Committee (CNOSF) and general Francophonie delegate to Burkina Faso, Paul Ismaël Ouedraogo, expressed conviction that the stamp will undeniably cement ties between French-speaking and other peoples around the world.
"The commemorative stamp has the privilege recognising no borders or linguistic barriers.
It never dies," he said.
Ouedraogo said the stamp would be a vehicle of Francophonie ideals across the world.
Meanwhile, director of the Burkina Faso National Corporation of Posts (SONAPOST), Arthur Kafando, said stamps are unrelenting and efficient messengers that are indispensable ambassadors of all times.
"Stamps perpetuate the image and message that they contain and remain forever engraved in the history of landmarks events in a country," he said.
Furthermore, the heads of states and governments attending the summit will be presented with golden pins and telephone directories representing the Francophonie, while heads of delegations will receive silver pins, Ouedraogo announced.
For organisational matters, the Ouaga 2000 International Press Centre (CIP) was commissioned on 22 November while the keys to the El Fateh five-star hotel, meant to host presidents, will be handed to the organisers the following day.
A total of 25 villas were also earmarked to accommodate high- ranking officials attending the summit.
The theme of the 10th Francophonie summit is "Francophonie, a framework of solidarity for sustainable development.
