Burkina Faso, Mali to strengthen efforts in fighting terrorism

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) - Burkina Faso President Roche Marc Christian Kaboré and the Malian minister of Defence, Colonel Sadio Camara, Tuesday reaffirmed the commitment of their two countries to work together in the fight against terrorism.

"Our exchanges particularly focused on the security situation in the region and the bilateral cooperation between our two countries," said Camara who received a message from the Malian transitional president, Colonel Assimi Goïta.

According to Camara, quoted in a statement issued by the Faso presidency, in the months to come, the joint efforts will be strengthened further in the fight against insecurity as "the challenge we are facing is common and the response global".

The Malian minister of Defence said the Malian and Burkinabe peoples were united by history and geography and would fight everyday against the common enemy, which was terrorism.

"Solution must therefore be found to this problem which made our brave populations suffer too much," he said, adding that President Kabore and President Goïta shared the same vision on the fight against terrorism.
