Burkina Faso Army neutralises a dozen terrorists

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) - A dozen terrorists were neutralised in the week of 9 to 16 August in various operations in Burkina Faso, the army announced in a statement on Monday.

According to the Burkinabe Army, on 9 August armed men attacked the military detachment of Tankoualou, in the east of the country.

The detachment's response and the subsequent combing operation resulted in the neutralisation of three terrorists and recovery of weapons, ammunition and various materials. No casualty was suffered on the army's side in this attack.

The next day, an aerial reconnaissance uncovered a terrorist logistical plot in a forest near Dablo, in the Centre-North. The plot, which contained fuel, sleeping equipment, food and various other materials, was destroyed, it said.

On 15 August, following an attack on volunteers for the defence of the homeland in a locality east of Kelbo, in the Sahel, an airborne operation was conducted to intercept and neutralise the attackers.

The operation resulted in the neutralisation of a dozen terrorists and the destruction of weapons and fifteen motorbikes.

The army said during the same week, it discovered and destroyed an improvised explosive device in the east of the country. It also organised a food supply for staff of public structures working in areas that are difficult to access.

In addition, the army provided medicines to medical centres in the east of the country.
