Botswana: Government denies asking private sector to boycott private media

Gaborone, Botswana (PANA) - The Botswana government had refuted media reports that vice president Mokgweetsi Masisi made efforts to coerce the business community to join the government's decision not to advertise in the private media.

The Presidency on Thursday denied newspaper reports that the vice president had asked private sector to support government’s position against the independent media.

“We wish to confirm that His Honour the Vice President has at no point made what would otherwise be an unrealistic call for the private sector to boycott the private media,” government chief spokesperson, ‪Jeff Ramsay, said‬.
