Benin to host 3rd "Gospel and Roots" festival

Cotonou- Benin (PANA) -- The third edition of the "Gospel and Roots" festival will hold 2-8 August in five Benin towns, organisers indicated here Wednesday, saying the event would this time around feature "Creole modes" capturing the West Indies through music, literature, plastic arts and gastronomy.
The event seeks to promote cultural and spiritual exchanges between Africans and Blacks of the Diaspora.
This year, it would feature 17 countries, with 15 groups and 200 artists for the Gospel music, and 25 groups and 250 artists for the roots component.
The towns of Abomey, Allada, Cotonou, Porto-Novo and Ouidah have been chosen as venues for various components of the festival.
The festival also seeks to boost tourism, handicrafts, publications, audio-visual production and new information and communication technologies.
