Benin pupils depict violence on women

Cotonou- Benin (PANA) -- The Benin section of the Association of Women in Law and Development (WILDAF), an organisation defending women's rights, would Wednesday in Cotonou reward some 36 school pupils who through drawings depicted violence against women and girls.
Organisers say that the purpose of the drawing competition, launched on the occasion of the 8 March World Women's Day, is to encourage young school children to denounce all forms of violence against women and to take part in the daily sensitisation of their gender.
The 36 drawings collected in the country's 12 Divisions with the assistance of the ministries of National Education and Family and Social Protection as well as the Canadian local initiatives Fund, would soon be published in a document to serve in campaigns for women's rights.
