Benin media awash with rising violence in Parliament

Cotonou- Benin (PANA) -- The Beninese dailies this week deplored the rising viole nce between members of parliament MPs from the presidential majority and the opp o sition, noting that two honourable members took the matter too far Tuesday when t hey reportedly exchanged blows.
L'Autre quotidien noted that the plenary session was particularly heated up foll owing Tuesday's free-for-all in the Paliament between the two legislators -- Saka Fika ra and Djibril Débourou.
The paper quoted former Finance Minister Stanislas Pognon as deploring the fact that "the argument of force, verbal and physical brutality prevailed over the fo r ce of argument".
L'Option infos, a newspaper close to government, contended that during full deba te on the inadmissibility request filed by President Yayi Boni about a bill on t h e High Audiovisual and Communication Authority (HAAC), one of the legislators bu r st into a rage, 'attacking' the president.
According to the paper, this disregard for President Boni did not please Débouro u shortly before the fracas.
La Nouvelle Tribune was even more critical when it decried the "shameful legisla tive show", slamming "the infamous attack by Débourou".
It urged politicians to watch their language.
In its Thursday's edition, Le Matinal noted that the tension was still high at t he Parliament, leaving fears that there might be serious drifts within the legis l ature.
