Benin delegation leaves for HIV/AIDS meeting

Cotonou- Benin (PANA) -- A high-level delegation led by Planning minister Bruno Amoussou, left Benin Saturday for New York to attend the UN General Assembly's special session on HIV/AIDS billed for 25-27 June.
The delegation includes experts from the National HIV/AIDS Control Programme, the Health ministry, the civil society and journalists.
The summit is expected to focus on the mobilisation of financial resources and adequate control strategies advocated by the UN.
In Benin an average 50 people are infected daily with HIV and health authorities warn that the current prevalence rate of 4 per cent would under the best of control measures reach 10 per cent in 2025, and 20 percent if not controlled.
