Benin: ASECNA to manage Benin-Togo air space from 25 June

Cotonou, Benin (PANA) – The Agency for Air Security and Navigation in Africa and Madagascar (ASECNA) will from 25 June this year be in charge of the management of the Beninese-Togolese air space, according to a decision made by the governments of the two countries, sources told PANA in Cotonou.

Managed by the Flight Information Region based in Accra, Ghana, since 1945, the Beninese-Togolese air space will from that date be in the hands of ASECNA after several years of positive negotiations with Ghana.

To perform its new responsibilities, ASECNA has established in the two countries equipment needed to provide air control and security services.

Technically, the Cotonou base will be in charge of control of the air spaces of the two countries up to 3.5 kilometers while that of Lomé will take over the control of the higher space.
