Belgium: EU provides additional 61 million euro to Ebola war chest

Brussels, Belgium (PANA) - The EU has made available an additional 61 million euro to the war against the Ebola that has killed more than 6,500 people in three West African countries.

According to a press release issued on Monday by the European Union Commission, the funds were made available when the European Commissioner for the Development, Neven Mimica, returned to Brussels after a three-day visit to Guinea.

The money is intended to reduce the impact of the economic effects of the Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia, the epicenter of the disease.

Meanwhile, in response to the appeal made by EU Commission for healthcare workers to be sent to West Africa to fight the disease, Greece has decided to send a medical team, including doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff, to the three countries.
