Belgium: Benin First Lady begins working visit to Belgium

Brussels, Belgium (PANA) - Benin’s First Lady, Mrs Claudine Talon, on Monday began a working visit to Belgium where she will hold talks with the Belgian Cooperation minister, Alexander de Croo, as well as Queen Mathilde, in her capacity as the honourable president for UNICEF/Belgium and defender of the US Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Mrs Talon’s visit follows the visit to Benin by the Belgian Cooperation minister where he inspected several projects meant to improve the rights of girls and women, particularly sexual and reproductive rights.

A communiqué issued by the Belgian government says that equality of rights of girls and women is major priority within the framework of Belgium's development policy.

Also, Belgium supports UNICEF's campaign against early marriage of girls and the sexual information carried out by the UN Fund for Population (UNFPA).
