Belgium: Belgian economic mission visits Cote d'Ivoire

Brussels, Belgique (PANA) - The Belgian Foreign Affairs Minister, Didier Reynders and Princess Astrid on Monday begins a three-day working visit to Côte d'Ivoire, at the head of an economic mission composed of  214 economic operators from 134 companies.

According to a government statement, the Belgians would be received by President Alassane Ouattara, and would have working sessions with several ministers, as well as Ivorian businesmen.

Some 20 agreements, including an air transport agreement between the two countries, would be signed.

The itinerary of the Belgian delegation also includes the organization of a seminar on human rights, specifically focusing on children's rights, against the background of thousands of children being used in cocoa plantations. Côte d'Ivoire is the world's biggest producer of cocoa.

Child labour in cocoa plantations in Côte d'ivoire is on the agenda of the EU-African Union Summit, expected in November in Abidjan.
